Material weight is generally not a significant concern. The limestone product utilized in our mud-jacking process is indeed heavier than foam; however, it is comparable in weight to the gravel and base materials commonly placed beneath concrete slabs.

Foam presents a distinct advantage when under-slab insulation is a priority, which is a key reason we have employed this method in certain heated floor scenarios.

On-site equipment considerations can also favor foam jacking, as it typically requires only one truck and trailer unit, while mudjacking usually necessitates two vehicles.

In practice, temperature is not a limiting factor for either method, as both require that the concrete slab is not frozen to the ground.

While imperviousness is sometimes mentioned as a benefit of foam, it can actually pose disadvantages in standard residential slab applications. Sealing the underside of a slab may trap moisture within the cracks, potentially leading to frost damage to the concrete. For instance, the gaps between paving stones allow water to pass through to the sand beneath, which then dissipates into the sub-soils.
